As a valued training provider working with adult social care providers, we want you to have clear information about the evidence requirements for the Adult Social Care Learning and Development Support Scheme (LDSS).

Understanding these requirements will help you better support your care provider clients when they submit claims for reimbursement of .

Evidence requirements

When care providers make claims through the LDSS, they must provide evidence that training has been paid for. This must include:

  • proof of payment - which must include the name of the organisation that made the payment and the name of the organisation that received the payment
  • the name of the training course or qualification paid for
  • the amount paid. If the total cost is for more than one learner, the organisation needs to demonstrate the cost per learner, ideally detailed on the invoice or receipt
  • valid VAT number, if not exempt
  • the date of payment.

Please note: Where staff have completed qualifications, the official certification from the awarding organisation must be supplied. The NHSBSA cannot accept supplementary certificates produced by training providers as evidence.

Proof of payment

Care providers can evidence proof of payment using:

  • a receipt
  • a receipted invoice (this is an invoice that has been officially marked as paid, and therefore shows proof of payment).

Remittances must be accompanied by bank statements rather than submitted independently.

Additional documentation

We recommend that care providers retain evidence of employees starting courses, as this may be requested during post-claim assurance processes conducted by NHSBSA.

Supporting your clients

By understanding these requirements, you can help your care provider clients submit complete and accurate claims, which will reduce delays and problems. Please consider including information about the documents needed in your booking process, so clients can start collecting the right evidence straight away.
